Reporting story: Journey from Reporting to Business Intelligence to Advanced Analytics

In 2015, when I began my career in pharma consulting, we utilized Microstrategy dashboards for reporting. This process involved a two-week data lag: one week for data collection and another week for publishing.

By 2021, we transitioned to using Tableau dashboards, which allowed for real-time reporting with embedded takeaways. These dashboards featured trend analysis, executive summaries, ad-hoc reporting, data visualization, and comparative analysis.

Looking ahead, the industry is shifting towards advanced analytics. Future dashboards will incorporate AI and ML, simulations, alerts, statistical analysis, web analytics, scenario planning, and predictive modeling as part of daily operations.
