Movie story: What did I do watching tons of movies?
From 2001 to 2004, I was an avid reader, devouring novels. However, my interest shifted to Hollywood movies and series. The first series I watched was "Friends," and I still enjoy it today. Over the years, I've watched numerous movies, series, and documentaries, as well as a few blockbuster Bollywood films. For my age, personal responsibilities, and professional commitments, I watch movies and series at a rapid pace.
Did I waste time on this? Could I have spent it more productively? Perhaps, but I found immense value in the details and storytelling techniques in these movies. For instance, in "Inception," the plot revolves around "Totems," objects that help characters distinguish between dreams and reality. In "The Prestige," Angier creates a duplicate of himself for his Transported Man illusion.
In 2021, I decided to write a short story on LinkedIn. Although I was never a natural storyteller, either orally or in writing, watching movies and series over the years helped me improve. I learned to set context and connect dots in my stories, making my LinkedIn posts more engaging. This is where my movie-watching habit has truly paid off!
P.S. This post isn't to encourage you to watch movies or series, but to inspire you to write stories.
