LRx or APLD Dataset (Part 2) -

LRx data is mostly used to determine the patient's source of business (New/ Continuing/ Switch) to study the actual cause of sales for the drug in the market. Below are some important metrics that are need to study the source of business-

1. Index Period- The time period from which the patients are selected for the analysis. For e.g., suppose Jul'24 is selected for the analysis. Then, all the patients who have prescription for Jul'24 will be selected for the analysis

2. Lookback Period - It is the length of time needed to go back into the past to determine the patient’s source of business category whether a patient is a

- New patient to the therapy

- Continuing on the therapy

- Switched from that therapy

For e.g., for Jul'24, lookback period will be Jul'23-Jun'24 (generally 12 months)

3. Lookforward period - Time period to look ahead to determine whether a drug is added or switched. For e.g., for Jul'24, Aug'24 will be the lookforward period (30 days generally)

4. Grace Period - Time period to determine the therapy is a restart as patient missed the refill after prescription. Generally, it is of 30 days

5. Study period - Total time used in the whole analysis. For e.g., for Jul'24, from Jul'23 to Aug'24 will be the study period
