Interview story: Vivek, if you leave your current organization, you lose your equity!

That was the advise given by my senior who had referred me to his company a couple of years back. 

I responded to him, saying that I don't have any equity in the current company. 

Equity is not always in terms of ESOP, bonuses, or other cash related clauses. 

Equity is also related to your knowledge of navigating internal stakeholders to get work done, it is also related to your internal network, and it is also related to the weight offered by leadership to your suggestions. 

And how much colleagues laugh on your jokes, even if they are not funny!
