Friendship story: You can only develop professional network at work!

I began my corporate career at Larsen & Toubro in 2007. Initially, I considered every colleague a friend, but after a few instances of colleagues backtalking to the manager, I became more cautious. Despite this, I maintained a friendly attitude and tried to have 1-2 long-term friends.

When I moved to KPIT, I made two good friends among my colleagues, and even became friends with my department head (a story for another day).

At ZS, almost the entire team became friends, and at PharmaACE, I made two good friends.

The reason I'm sharing this is to highlight that professional friendships follow a different path than regular friendships. You might not meet your professional friends often or go out with them, but in times of professional need, you call each other for support and professional guidance.

Proof of such a friendship? After 17 years, a mentor-cum-friend from Larsen & Toubro called me last Friday to say he had rejoined the company in a senior position and asked if ...

I would like to join him in L&T.

If I were a bit more emotional (my family says I'm not the emotional type), I would have definitely cried!
