Achievement story: Sometime it takes 9 years to get it right!

I’ve always aimed to captivate children with fun activities during my eldest daughter’s birthday celebrations, which fall in October, coinciding with Pune’s retreating monsoon season.

In 2016, for her inaugural birthday, we chose a distant venue, which resulted in a low turnout. This taught me the importance of selecting a location closer to home.

By 2018, we introduced a balloon shooting game that was a hit among the kids. However, it allowed only one child to play at a time, leading me to realize the need for games that multiple children could enjoy simultaneously.

The following year, I opted for a Jumping Bouncer, but our plans were dampened by heavy rains, preventing its use. The lesson learned was to check the weather forecast and have indoor games as a backup.

In 2020, helium balloons were the highlight, and to my delight, the children created their own games with them in the clubhouse. This became a staple for the subsequent four birthdays, meeting all expectations.

Yet, the desire to provide an open-field game like the Jumping Bouncer, where numerous kids could revel together, lingered. Therefore, in June 2024, during the monsoon season, I decided to rent it again for my younger son’s birthday. To counter the risk of rain, I took the following precautions:

  1. The birthday was set in the society clubhouse and open area to ensure a nearby venue for celebration.

  2. I diligently monitored the weather forecast, which predicted light showers.

  3. I maintained a flexible arrangement with the Jumping Bouncer provider, agreeing to confirm only an hour before the event, depending on the rain.

  4. When a light shower occurred around 2 pm, and considering the rainfall pattern from the previous days, I was confident there would be no further downpours. Consequently, I proceeded with the Jumping Bouncer, and it was quickly set up for the children’s enjoyment.

Learning: Continue the process (of Helium balloon). Keep analyzing the data and learn from it so as to make it bigger & better (like the jumping bouncer) at the right opportunity.
