Win story: I have nothing to lose!
In 2003, at COEP Technological University, my temporary roommate had failed all his subjects. While he was studying for the retest, he was surprisingly cheerful about it. I asked him, "Don't you feel bad about failing all your subjects?"
He replied, "I have nothing to lose. I come from a rural background, and just being here is a big deal for me. Plus, the college has an immediate retest policy, instead of making us wait for another six months!"
And he cleared all his subjects in the retest.
Then, I realized that unlike him, most of us have:
1. A fear of failure
2. That leads to overthinking and counterproductive actions
3. Which makes us withdraw during exams
4. And we become underconfident and fail
P.S. It seems these four steps occurred with the hashtag#indiancricketteam during the final match (Fear of losing final match and hence they prepared a dry pitch to stall the Australians, and then during the match, Indian players like Kohli and KL Rahul withdrew, and later all the players became underconfident and failed).
