Team story: The Power of teamwork: hashtag#Mumbai
I have lived in Mumbai from 2007 to 2009. This city, often called the "City of Dreams," is renowned for the resilience of its residents. In the 1990s, Mumbai was under the grip of gangsters, with a series of daylight murders of businessmen and celebrities, culminating in the murder of Gulshan Kumar in 1997.
In response to the public outcry against the rise in underworld shoot-outs, the Mumbai police formed a squad of encounter specialists. These officers gunned down over 600 gangsters, bringing the underworld to its knees. This was possible because the people of Mumbai united, compelling political leaders and the police department to act decisively and reduce the underworld menace to negligible levels.
Similarly, in the workplace, there may be times when certain policies or managers seem to have too much control. However, when everyone comes together (which takes some time), then leadership is compelled to take action.
