Data story: How Indian hashtag#cricket team can win hashtag#wc2023 final

Having watched every Indian match during 2003 world cup, I vividly recall their dominance throughout the tournament, except for the qualifying loss to Australia. Sachin-Sehway-Sourav batting performance had set the batting stage but bowling lacked comparable strength.

While Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath, and Ashish Nehra unleashed their fury on opponents, during the World cup, they collectively failed to take a single wicket in the final. They allowed Australia to seize control from the very first over and that set the stage for Australia to dominate the entire match and ultimately claim victory.

What India should do to win 2023 WC against Australia? Mental courage is important for Indian team, as Australia is known for their psychological prowess.

1. The first five overs of both bowling and batting are crucial. India's bowling run rate must not exceed six during the first five overs, and no wickets should fall during their initial batting innings.

2. Avoid over-reliance on hashtag#Shami as a bowler and hashtag#rohitsharma and hashtag#viratkohli as batsmen. Develop a Plan B if these key players do not deliver.

3. Incorporate a sixth bowler, a need that was evident during the semi-final against New Zealand.

4. In the event of winning the toss, opt to bat first to avoid the pressure of chasing a target (10 out of 13 WC matches of India vs Aus were won by batting first).

Remember: Australians are like WW2 Stuka bombers of Germany. They make ear shattering noise (play the attached mp3) during the dive to weaken enemy morale and enhance the intimidation of dive-bombing. Keeping the morale high Morale during the match is the greatest single factor in determining the outcome of the match.
